Vegetarian Meal Plan May Reduce Oxidative Stress Levels

Vegetarian Meal Plans Can Improve Your Health

It is no secret that vegetarian diet and meal plans can significantly improve your health, and reduce various health risks, and vegetarian diets can even prevent childhood obesity. Vegetarians are generally healthier compared to meat eaters, and studies have even found that vegetarian diets can improve your mood. So, you not only benefit by having a healthier diet, you can also enjoy a better mood and feeling of well-being.

Vegetarian meal plans are quite simple to make as well, and it's by no means complicated at all. The food and recipes can be quick and easy to make, and at the same time, can be very delicious, enticing, and healthful.

Recent studies have found that vegetarian meal plans can help to reduce oxidative stress levels - even if the vegetarian meal plan was followed for a relatively short period, such as 5 days only. Oxidative stress is used to describe oxidative damage. Oxidative damage has been linked to various diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and abnormally high level of oxidative stress can increase early decline in optimum body functions.

One recent study have found that just a 5-day vegetarian meal plan can reduce oxidative stress levels. This study examined how short term changes in diet influenced exposure levels to environmental chemicals (antibiotics and phthalates). 25 adults took part in a 5 day temple stay program in Korea where they maintained a vegetarian meal plan. During this time, various oxidative stress biomarkers were analyzed from urine samples. The study found that frequency and levels of detection for the environmental chemicals decreased significantly, suggesting that even short term change to a vegetarian meal plan can significantly decrease exposure to environmental chemicals and reduce oxidative stress levels. As you can see, even just a 5 day change to a vegetarian diet provided the participants with significant health benefits by reducing their oxidative stress levels. It makes sense that following a vegetarian meal plan over the long term will have long lasting health benefits, and will allow you to lead a healthier and happier life style.

Of course, the above is just one of the many benefits of following a vegetarian diet. There are many other health benefits such as prevents obesity, improves mood, better physical well-being, just to name a few.
